OTTAWA — New Nanaimo Member of Parliament Paul Manley certainly made an entrance — though his fellow MPs seemed confused by his initial speech in the House of Commons today.
“On your mark, get set, go, let me go, let me shoop. To the next man in the three-piece suit,” said Manly. “I spend all my dough, ray me cutie. Shoop shoop a-doobie like Scoobie Doobie Doo.”
The young Commons page staff were the first to react, looking perplexed by Manly’s sudden break into rapping.
“I love you in your big jeans,” Manly continued, not clear to whom he was speaking. “You give me nice dreams. You make me wanna scream, ooh ooh ooh.”
At this point, the Speaker of the House motioned the security team to Manly’s side of the house.
“Bright as the sun, I wanna have some fun. Come and give me some of that yum-yum.
As Manly was removed from the House, he was singing “Shoop shoop ba-doop shoop ba-doop. Shoop ba-doop ba-doop, ba-doop.”
